Mid Evaluation
As a group we decided to create a pre- recorded insert about affordable fashion for young students who attend City of Westminster college between the ages of 16-19. Whilst starting our pre- recorded insert production we where aware that many students around the college with unique fashion sense where unaware with how much they spent on each item of clothing but they said they where highly influenced by celebrities and what they wear, which includes people like 'Wiz Khalifa' and 'Pharell Williams' and many more. This gave us an idea to incorporate music alongside fashion to make our insert more interesting and exciting to watch and would relate more to our target audience.

Insert Proposal
Proposal
Are you into
fashion?
Different fashion icons influence most students who attend ‘City of
Westminster College’ such as mainstream celebrities like Rihanna, Chris Brown
and Kanye West who has anticipated in creating an A-list fashion line for celebrities.
As a group we will be interviewing several students around the college asking
them about the latest affordable fashion and analysing their outfit (where they
got each item of clothing from and prices).

Zoetrope
I am going to explain the process of using the zoetrope method.
Zoetrope is a cylinder optical toy with numerous slits with a series of images on the inner surface, when reviewed the cylinder rotating, it gives an impression of the images moving in a continues motion, scanning through the slits keeps the pictures from simply blurring together so that the user sees a rapid succession of images producing the illusion of motion, the equivalent of a moton picture. When looking over the cylinder optical toy instead of looking through the slits you cannot see the pattern.

Week 1: Discussed and chose the song in which we will be using in our music video and allocted our job roles, understanding what specific roles we will be doing in the music video.(15 Minute discssion)
Week 2: Discussed and developed mind maps of different music genres suggesting intial and final ideas.
Week 3: Developed our final ideas into a storyboard of what specific movements and actions that will be happening whilst filming our music video.
Week 4: Filming Music Video
Week 5: Continue all asspects of filming and begin to edit the music video on final cut pro.
Week 6: Complete all editing and written work. We will then post our video on youtube and show our class to recieve constructive feedback.
Mind Map
Story Board
Scene 1: An establishing over the sholder shot of the music video being watched onj a mobile phone, and Sheniz's boyfriend (Rusher) is angry that she is with another guy. The camera then zooms into the mobile phone and the music video will begin to play.
Scene 2: Shot reverse shot of Jordan and Sheniz at song opening establishing the scenery. Sheniz then starts with the song chorus. -Jordan then raps to the camera on his doorstep.
Scene 3: Sheniz will then be singing to the camera and will be walking down a deserted road portraying different angels and camera shots (portraying her confidence).
Scene 4: Jordan does his rap whilst walking down the street after Sheniz but she is unaware that he is following her.
Scene 5: Jordan then grabs Sheniz's hand and walks infront of a car where we have a slight romantic dance and Sheniz sings to Jordan displaying her love for him. This will be transitioned with a short clip when Sheniz is with her boyfriend (Rusher) and catches her eye with Jordan but gets pulled away.

CWC INDENT
Evaluation
In class sue gave us the task to create a ident specific for City of Westminster College, our group consisted of Raymond, Alessandra, Shaniz and Me (Jordan).
To begin our ident for our college we had to begin with critical planning of initial ideas of what we wanted to include. We then created 3 mind maps of all our ideas and then deciding on the best one to use. I believe that I managed my time very constructively as I tried to keep myself busy at all times and asking members of my group if they need help whenever signs of struggle appeared. I rate myself a 4 as I was absent once throughout this task meaning the production process of our ident was slowed down.
I therefore rated my group 5 out of 5 as they where always ready and keen to keep on working, even when I was absent they filled me in with any idea changes that was made on that day and also asked for my input. Our college ident very much related to the design brief as we included different areas of work that the college educates, and also including the college name and logo.
In our animation we included the clay mation technique which is a technique we learnt how to use and evaluate in class, so we decided to include a morph interacting with a college student so that our ident relates to not only a younger target audience but an older target audience, we received feedback from our fellow classmates and said that they 'Really enjoyed the ident' but we also received negative feedback as the morph put his middle finger up which is very inappropriate and could be changed by including another shot of the morph or blanking out the morph hand.
What I would do differently? The things that i would do differently is include more areas of animation techniques to showcase our talents and make the college ident even more interesting to watch and eye catchy. We also needed to include a shot which appears to be missing which is the transition the the classroom door to the desk as comments on the video, this was addressed. I believe as a group we worked very well and I would defiantly chose the same people again to work with.

Claymation Animation Gumbasia & Morph
Evaluation
What
is Gumbasia animation? Gumbasia animation is
the first created clay animation created by Art Clokey produced in 1953, which
consisted of a 3-minute short clip conveying several different shapes which
their size and angels are manipulated creating an abstract feel.
As a pair, we where given the task to
create a short a clay animation using the gumbasia technique. The first area in
which we needed to tackle was the actual theme we wanted our clay animation to
be based on, which meant critical thinking had to come into play and also
analysing previous gumbasia animations so that we where aware of the types of
movement we could undertake. After evaluating several clips we then began to
create our characters using clay relating to our initial ideas of a
conversation between a child and a student. We then used the software
istopmotion to take individual snap shots to create our clay- mation at each
movement made by our characters to indicate flowing movement. I believe the
amount of ideas generated by the group helped the creation process, but
throughout the development stage, some members of our team skived away from
working together meaning our animation wouldn’t be completed on time scheduled.
What
is Aardman Animation? Aardman animation is a
British based animation studio. The studio based in Bristol is famously known
for films created using stop- motion clay animation techniques; characters such
has Wallace and Gromit where invented by this production company. The company
was founded in 1972 and began producing short animated motion pictures for the BBC; and currently the company is working on a larger scale Aardman production company
have been announced to create 12 shorts films using the Nintendo DSi studio.
Morph created by Aardman animation is a children's character created from clay mainly directed at deaf children as the animation uses sounds sounds instead of actual words. There are several strengths with using clay animation as you can animate and manipulate the clay morph character easily and can easily be remolded, there are also disadvantages as creating the animation is very time consuming as individually images have to be taking of each slight piece of movement toconvey a change in its transition.
Creating our morph for our animation was very time consuming as there was limitations to what we could make as we didnt have enough time and lack of experience in creating our morph. Whilst filming our morph animation we came across several obsitcals when the clay got very warm and the characters arms and legs where breaking of evidently meaning remaking our morphs several times.
The difference between our cut-out animation and morph animation is that we where restricted with our imagination as cut out animation meant we had to work with a flat surface and not being able to make our character turn 360 degrees. In my own
opinion I don't think that there is a big difference in using clay animation or
cut out animation because you are using the same techniques, but one type of animation is using clay and
the other one is with paper.
If i was given this task again, the things I would do differently is plan my time wisely and create a story board of what will be happening in the animation so that half way through I dont forget what the animation is about and not skiving of and talking to friends so that i could get all work completed on time.

Animation
Stop Motion Animation
I was set the the task to create a stop motion animation using magazines as cut outs to create a storyline stop morion animation; I worked alongside Denis to create our animation above.
I believe that people use cut out animation as its believed to be the easiest form of animation but has a disadvantage of not being able to view the cut out image in 3D, which makes it hard to include a turn in cut out animation. A way of making still objects look as if they are speaking to other characters is by cutting the mouth and introducing slight movement (up and down). Another disadvantage of using cut out animation is finding relevant images for the story line you have created, but this could be very costly depending on how imaginative your work creation is but also very time consuming, as you will have to cut out the images including all the detail so that the animation is interesting.
What will i do differently? I would spend more time creating more visual mood boards so that we could have had a solid story line, I would also develop research of magazines and what specific context they have so that I would know what sort of images I could use for my cut out animation.

Eadweard Muybridge
Eadweard Muybridge is a British photographer who is known for his pioneering work on animal locomotion, which uses several cameras to capture motion.
This image is showing Eadweard's most famous motion capture using the zoopraxiscope, which is a series of images captured on a large camera which uses glass plates in a line which is triggered by a thread once the horse passes by. The images are then copied in a form of silhouettes onto a disk and is viewed in the zoopraxiscope.
I was able to re- create my own version of the Eadweard Muybridge technique using the software "iStopMotion" by capturing each individual frame and playing them back in a zoopraxiscope motion.
Firstly: you open iStopMotion and set up what you will be doing/using in your animation.
Secondly: you select the red button every time a movement is being made (trying to make the movement as close as possible)
Thirdly: after all the images have been captured you press the play button to show the images altogether showing the animation.
Finally you export the animation by going to file and selecting export and then changing the video format for better quality.
This animation has been captured using 12 frames per second.

Comparing 2 Idents
The two idents in which I will be comparing is "BBC One- Ident- 'Capes'- 2008" and "BBC Zoetrope Ident," one creating a futuristic feel and the other creating a more naturalistic every day feel of a real life persona
BBC Zeotrope Ident
BBC One Ideny
"BBC Zeotrope Ident" contains both old and future graphics which plays on gender stereotypes, in this channel ident (BBC Two) is mainly directed at a male orientation aged 30+, as past filming techniques have been introduced; such as flash gordon which is a science fiction comic strip that was used to convey a surrealistic scenery as flying cars and space ships are displayed throughout the ident with plain textual font relating to the older target audience.
BBC One ident of a grey/ rainy day, displaying a typical day of london weather as the weather but the weather then changes to a sunny background and a dramatic display of bright colours indicating the BBC One logo as being friendly and very warm and welcoming to watch the channel. Both BBC idents have a simular feature as the BBC Zeotrope ident begins with a circular motion and the BBC One Ident ends with a constant circular motion of people cycling.

Introduction to Channel Indents
What is Channel Identification?
Channel identification is a constant practice of radio or television stations or networks on identifying themselves mainly through brand names.
What are the characteristics of Channel Identification?
The main characteristics in which channel identification contains is instrumental sounds (non-diagetic sounds) which can have a higher'd or lowered volume; this can include string instruments, this was used in the the E4 channel identification to present a mellow feel to the audience. The characteristics also includes eye catching features to stand out from other existing channels by using every day products/ individuals on a unique scale for example BBC Three uses cartoon human like characters in their channel indents. Another characteristic which is frequent throughout all channel indents is appealing to their target audience for example BBC Three presents their advert with elaborate bright colours indicating that their programs are directed towards a younger target audience.
What is the purpose of Channel Identification?
Channel identification is a constant practice of radio or television stations or networks on identifying themselves mainly through brand names, identifying the audience into specific categories E.G. Age, gender, race, ethnicity and culture. It is vital that the companies such as the BBC and E4 to guide their viewers in the right direction to watching their shows, indents are used to be recognised quickly and easily. As brands and labels help people make choices more easily for example in the early 80's their used to be 1000 product lines in supermarkets and now their are up to 100,000 brands meaning they have to stand out from others to gain profits; this also relates to the television market as their only use to be 1 to 4 channels and then in the mid 90's channel 5 was then launched and then following in 1989 Sky was launched serving multiple channels to gain the viewers interest. Linked media is the network space.

Introduction to Editing
What is editing?
Editing is the process of selecting from different shots and joining them together to tell a story.
What is eliptical editing?
Eliptical editing is showing time has passed, it allows us to fill in the gaps and moves the story on more quickly and tajes up less time on the screen.
What are long shots used?
A long shot is used to remind the viewer the surroundings and whats going on which makes the story easier to understand.
What is "non- diagetic" sound?
Non- diagetic sound is sounds or music which are not natural to its surroundings. The music creates tension showing that the girl is in the woods alone.
How do we know that she is bending down to pic up the ring? (What shots are used and why?)
A jump cut is used to indicate what her movement was; to pick up the ring which is on the ground creating meaning through close up shots of the ring on the ground and then in her hand and then a close up on her face.
Overhead establishing shot- What does this achieve?
This sets out the space where the action will take place and the characters position.
What is shot reverse shot?
Shot reverse shot is cutting between characters, looking at each other indicating a conversation.
What is eye- line matching?
Eye- line matching is matching eyes between shot reverse shot indicating that they are talking to each other. E.G. off screen and down then off screen and up.
Why do we cut to the other characters of the group?
They cut between the other characters in the group in two's and single shots to see the reaction on their faces.
What is a wipe?
Wipe is to move current action to another location and time in a diagonal angel (MIS EN SCENE)
What is the effect of using quick cuts?
26 shots which are quick cuts which indicate fast rhythms which keeps the story moving on and keeping the audience on their toes.
How can editing build tension and pace?
By using more shots which get shorter and shorter to quicken the pace with close up shots of the characters face showimg fear and long shots to show what is happening.
What is cross cutting?
Cross cutting is cutting between two characters showing the progess up the cliff and then to the anxious audience watching the characters climb the cliff.
What are reaction shots?
Reaction shot is showing the fear of the audience of what may happen if one the persons climbing the cliff falls.
What is seamless editing?
Seamless editing is not thinking about the work that the editor has put in to construct the scene.
What is a jump cut?
Jump cut is cutting on action so that audience is aware that editing has taken place.
What is flashback and what does it achieve?
A sudden and disturbing vivid memory of an event in the past, typically as the result of psychological trauma or taking LSD.

Organize For Editing
Firstly you open 'Final Cut Pro' and locate your work.
You then label all your clips, appropriate to what they are when viewing them; you do this by selecting on the file and then selecting the text.
You then rename the clip or file.
After renaming each clip you can then create individual bins to help separate and organize your work.
You then right click on the mouse and select on new bin.
You then name each folder according to the files you have such as 'Stills', 'Audio' and 'Video', you then drag and drop your files into the appropriate folder.
After dragging all your files in the appropriate folders your work should look neat and organised.
